What the interpreter does, and does not do
The interpreter interprets. That is the whole role, and it is what protects the record.
The interpreter renders everything said, without adding, omitting or changing meaning. If clarification is needed, the attorney or examiner asks the question, and the interpreter interprets it.
The interpreter does not explain questions, give advice or answer on anyone's behalf. The interpreter does not hold side conversations with the claimant, witness or party.
Examinations Under Oath, IMEs, Arbitration and Mediation
An examination under oath is sworn testimony, usually taken under the terms of an insurance policy during a claim investigation. The questions are detailed, the answers are recorded, and the transcript may be relied on later if the claim is disputed.
For a non-English-speaking insured, the interpreter renders each question and each answer completely and accurately, in the first person, exactly as spoken. Nothing is summarized, softened or explained. That is what keeps the transcript reliable for everyone relying on it.
In an independent medical examination, the physician's questions and the examinee's descriptions of symptoms, history and pain need to be understood precisely. Small differences in wording matter in a medical record. Our interpreters render medical terminology and everyday descriptions of symptoms accurately in both directions, so the examining physician hears what the examinee actually said.

Language and dialect
Tell us the language and, where known, the country or region, so we match the right interpreter.
Length
Interpreted testimony takes longer than testimony in English, because every question and answer is spoken twice. Build that into the schedule.
Documents
If documents will be read or referred to, sending them in advance helps the interpreter prepare.
Remote or on-site
Let us know whether the proceeding will be in person or by video.
Coordination
The court reporter and interpreter are coordinated, so that nothing falls between vendors.
